“Black Female Head  in Paris”  2023 . Digital Painting

The idea for this piece comes from my time in France, when I got into the Japanese culture in Paris. I would paint still-life’s arranged from random objects in the streets of Paris. Here they are placed onto a black and orange colored dining table, adorned with an array of fruit and books, captured in the surrealistic portraiture style, draws the viewer into a realm where ordinary elements converge in an extraordinary composition. The juxtaposition of colors, particularly the stark contrast between black and orange, serves as a visual allegory for the duality inherent in existence.

The infusion of Japanese Renaissance elements adds cultural depth to the tableau, inviting contemplation on the intersection of tradition and modernity. The harmony between the Eastern and Western aesthetic traditions in the composition hints at a synthesis of diverse influences, suggesting that wisdom can be found in the fusion of cultural perspectives.

In the colorful neo-romanticism style, the vibrancy of the scene evokes an emotional response, infusing the still life with a sense of vitality. The arrangement of fruit and books becomes a symbolic representation of the richness of life’s experiences, where intellectual pursuits and sensory pleasures coalesce in a harmonious whole.

Overall, this surrealistic portrayal of a dining table transcends its mundane subject matter, inviting the viewer to reflect on the profound interconnectedness of elements in our lives. It prompts contemplation on the dualities, cultural influences, and emotional resonances that shape our understanding of reality, weaving together threads of the familiar and the fantastical into a tapestry of philosophical inquiry.

“Caribbean Stella Drinks”  2022. Digital Painting.

A painting, channeling the essence of Frank Stella’s style while infusing it with a Caribbean perspective, becomes a testament to the marriage of abstraction and objects’ intricate beauty. Stella’s hallmark sense of movement in abstraction finds new life as it intertwines with the organic forms of native Caribbean plants, each stroke intricately detailed and elegantly portraying the lush flora of the region.

At its core, this artistic fusion becomes a dialogue between two seemingly disparate realms: the structured, geometric abstraction emblematic of Stella’s oeuvre and the untamed, organic elegance of nature. In this harmonious convergence, the painting serves as a visual symphony, where rigid lines and fluid shapes coalesce, creating a vibrant narrative that transcends artistic boundaries.

The Caribbean variation adds a distinct flavor to Stella’s kinetic abstraction, infusing it with the spirited vitality and vibrant hues of the region’s flora. The meticulous depiction of native plants not only celebrates their aesthetic allure but also hints at a deeper philosophical inquiry. It prompts contemplation on the interconnectedness of art and the natural world, highlighting the intrinsic beauty found in the fusion of human creativity with the organic splendor of the environment.

Moreover, this artistic endeavor invites reflection on the broader interplay between human constructs and the ever-evolving forces of nature. It suggests a profound symbiosis, where artistic expression finds inspiration in the organic rhythms of the Earth, echoing the idea that creativity, at its essence, is an echo of nature’s perpetual dance.

Ultimately, the painting becomes a visual testament to the harmonious coexistence of divergent artistic elements. It invites viewers to explore the intersections of structured abstraction and the graceful chaos of nature, offering a philosophical journey that celebrates the beauty found in their synthesis.
